What Does a Leadhand Do? Under the general supervision of the Patrol Supervisor, the Leadhand will be responsible for directing the day-to-day field maintenance operations for all highway infrastructures within the Contractor Directed Maintenance Contract (CDMC). As a Leadhand, You Will: Estimate time, materials and equipment required to complete tasks Prioritize, organize, and allocate tasks to assigned crew Train the crew on OTM Book 7 procedures, performance requirements in the CDMC and Miller Values of Safety, Quality and Integrity Act as a point of contact for MTO Authorities and staff in emergencies Communicate with authorities on site and liaise with MTO central dispatch to ensure adequate resources are available to maintain public safety on the highways during adverse conditions Provide traffic control at the accident scene. Respond to emergencies such as spills, accidents etc. and assist in implementing an emergency plan as needed Assist in identifying deficiencies by regular daily patrols of highways and notify the Patrol Supervisor as required. Complete minor repairs to the highway Conduct daily circle checks of vehicles, clean and perform minor repairs Perform inspections and Quality Control measures to ensure that the jobs meet or exceed the quality specs outlined in the CDMC Review and ensure that daily.
