Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) of Fairbanks, AK is looking to hire a full-time Construction Field Representative as part of the Engineering Division located in Fairbanks, AK . This is a position that earns a competitive wage of $32.03 including excellent benefits. GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,261 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 35 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all of the electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, extending from Homer to Fairbanks. Powering the Interior of Alaska, GVEA contributes to the economic, environmental, and social viability of our communities. Our Construction Field Representative communicate and consult with commercial and residential members about their electrical service needs. They plan new construction of GVEA distribution facilities, including: preliminary engineering, staking right-of-way, redlining CAD GIS maps, and ordering materials. They are also the point-of-contact, for members and various departments of GVEA, involved in the new construction process. Some duties include inspecting member facilities to ensure that they adhere to GVEA, NEC and NESC regulations before they are connected to the power grid. The Construction Field Representative plays an integral role in GVEA's ability to serve the Interior of Alaska in providing reliable electric service at fair and reasonable prices! QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN CONSTRUCTION FIELD REPRESENTATIVE High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid Alaska driver's license required. One year post-secondary coursework in the electrical field. Three years experience in the utility field with extensive customer contact. Working knowledge of GVEA's distribution system preferred. Technical Certification in Electrical Wiring or outside line work is preferred. Possess CPR/first aid certification. Previous work experience in a Cooperative or Electric Utility would be preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. Do you have excellent customer service skills? Do you have the ability to deal with members in a tactful and understanding manner in stressful situations while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor? Do you have the ability to read maps and have familiarity with Fairbanks and the surrounding area? Can you effectively prioritize multiple tasks? Are you dependable and trustworthy?
