Position Summary The Microbiology Laboratory Technician I position has the primary responsibility to assist in all essential functions required for the Microbiology Group.Microbiology Group Laboratory Technician I (Micro Lab Tech I) will report directly to the Microbiology Group LeadThis position has no supervisory responsibilities. Essential Functions Ensures safe working conditions in the warehouse and offices and supports Phigenics safety team objectivesHas a general understanding of all Phigenics Analytical Services Laboratory (PASL) offerings and operationsUnderstand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Microbiology Group.Receive and login microbiology samplesPrepare materials for microbiology sample processing under the direct supervisionProcess microbiology samples according to SOPs under the direct supervisionRecord sample location data and results in the laboratory databaseCommunicates with clients and sales team to ensure accurate sample processingPerform quality control and quality assurance procedures, and maintain quality system records to comply with all accrediting agenciesAssist in the receipt, inspection, and stocking of suppliesPerforms lab maintenance including, but not limited to:Clean lab equipment and wash glassware, vials, and filtersClean and store materials used for testingDiscard old microbiology samplesAll tasks require the exercise of discretion and independent judgment in important scientific laboratory procedures and operationsPerforms additional tasks as assigned by the Microbiology Group Lead. Position Requirements 4-year biology degree or equivalent experience in Microbiology0-2 years experience in a relevant laboratory settingStrong time management skillsStrong verbal & written skillsAttention to detailAbility to work overtime frequently, sometimes with little or no notice.Ability to work with potentially sensitive biological or chemical ingredientsKnowledgeable in the use of computers - MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint Accountabilities Safety is our priority.
