Experience: Previous experience as a Truck Driver is an asset but not mandatory. On the job training, will be provided. Other Requirements: Class 1 License and Air Brake Endorsement is required. Number of positions available: 4NOC Group: Transport truck drivers Job Title: Long Haul Truck Driver Job Location: Varies from Contract to Contract. Job Duties: • Operate and drive primarily tractor-trailor, long-combination vehicle and straight-body trucks to transport goods and materials over long distances. • Plan trip logistics and obtain required documentation to transport goods. • Perform pre-trip, in route and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment and accessories such as tires, lights and turning signals, brakes and cold storage. • Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and check on cargo at every stop during the long haul. • Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes and ensure that all documentation pertaining to travelling between states or countries is in order. • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. • Use GPS and / or maps to chart out the best route which is time and fuel efficient. • Administer bills of lading and manually or electronically maintain logbooks. • Communicate with dispatcher, other drivers and customers using communication.
