Summary This role performs the maintenance of a food processing facility including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, installation of machinery relating to food processing equipment, physical structures, plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems. Job Duties• Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements; • Inspect machines and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues; • Troubleshoot, repair and install mechanical components, electrical controls, freezers, conveyors, bearings and power transmissions; • Participate in problem solving by locating and diagnosing sources of trouble; • Dismantle and repair or replace broken, worn or faulty parts and reassemble; • Resolve reported problems in a timely manner; • Preventative maintenance on various fish processing equipment; • Adhere to all safety and operations procedures and directives; • Undertake other duties as assigned. Requirements• 3-5 years experience in a similar role; • Excellent knowledge of machinery, electrical, plumbing and other systems including their components; • Experience in fabrication and welding is an asset; • Ability to respond to emergencies and work under pressure; • Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc. ) and precision measurement tools (e. g. calipers); • Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc; • A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines; • Very good communication skills; • Ability to work well with co-workers is a must; • Analytical skills, self-motivation and initiative; • Ability to work independently; • Flexible with early morning shifts. Working Conditions• Work in an environment with fluctuating temperatures; • Lifting, moving, or pushing of heavy equipment or objects; • Ability to perform tasks wearing personal protective equipment; • Work in areas where odors are present from ingredients used in production (e. .
