Summary/objective :Clear Water Aquatics offers high-quality lifeguarding and private swim lesson services to clients in their home pools. As one of our mobile instructors, you will schedule lessons, travel to clients' homes, and provide a fun and safe lesson or party experience for them. You can choose your own schedule, and will be compensated for travel time. You will be responsible for developing a personalized swim curriculum to meet the goals of each swimmer including but not limited to; increasing comfort and safety skills around water, learn-to-swim lessons, and stroke and technique refinement for competitive swimming. If you have experience teaching infants, special needs classes, or advanced competitive techniques, we would love to hear about it. Essential functions : Prepare swim lesson plans to meet the goals of each individual swimmer. Communicate directly with swim lesson participants and their families to coordinate pool location and scheduling. Select and assemble equipment, and other instructional aids before class begins. Adapt lessons to participant age, physical ability, and interests. Provide individual coaching and instruction. Ensure the safety of swim lesson participants. Teach lessons with enthusiasm, warmth, and professionalism Effectively communicate progress with participant following each lesson, or with parents regarding their child’s progress. Respond to and resolves inquiries and complaints from students or parents. Provide exceptional customer service in all interactions with participants, parents, and prospective clients. Arrive to lesson locations on time, as scheduled. Required qualifications : Must be at least 16 years of age. 1 year of teaching swim lessons required. Valid Texas driver’s license and reliable transportation required. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification is preferred, and current nationally recognized Lifeguarding/CPR/First Aid certification is required. Strong skills in time management, adaptability, attention to detail, and problem-solving. Pass all required criminal history background checks. Competency : Must be self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to take initiative. Possess strong skills in time management, adaptability, attention to detail, and problem solving. Ability to effectively address multiple tasks at the same time and ability to interact with people of diverse backgrounds required. Principles and practices of excellent customer service. Responding to emergencies and determining corrective actions using available resources. Effective, clear, and concise communication. Previous swim lesson experience greatly preferred. Position type and expected hours of work : Part-time; non-exempt Hours will vary depending on client interest and instructor availability. Work environment : Clear Water Aquatics expects a safe and healthy work environment and is smoke and drug free. Work is performed in an aquatic environment and all-weather conditions, with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, wet surfaces, pool maintenance equipment, infectious diseases and blood borne pathogens. Must be physically and mentally able to communicate, respond and work with participant’s needs and safety issues; and tolerate loud noise associated with enthusiasm and excitement. Ability to move quickly, efficiently, and accurately. Ability to work extended hours outdoors in high and occasionally low temperatures; often exposed to extreme heat and sun for extended periods. Physical demands : Ability to pass rescue skills and first aid proficiency test. Ability to safely pull, push, lift and carry items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Ability to sit, bend, and reach for extended periods of time Ability to walk and stand for extended periods (often greater than 1 hour) Must be able to see, speak, and hear Benefits: Flexible schedule.
