POSITION SUMMARY: As a Mobile Research Unit Operator (MRUO), you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality, functionality, and availability of our MRU (Mobile Research Units) in the local or regional communities we serve. This role is multi-functional covering several key areas of our organization, such as fleet, clinical research, and community engagement. In addition to fleet support, our Mobile Research Unit Operators provide basic clinical support with our clinical trials and local community health events. There is potential for travel not limited to local or regional, as we operate multiple site locations throughout the United States.Essential Functions: Act as the representative of EmVenio Research at assigned site location(s), which may include multiple sites within a regional area. Provide operational support for the MRU fleet: Handle maintenance and repair issues, ensuring prompt resolution of vehicle-related downtime incidents, recalls, or warranty matters. Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating preventative maintenance and cleaning for MRUs and associated equipment (e.g., generators). Maintain accurate records and logs of vehicle service events, failures, design issues, and preventive maintenance activities. Manage wastewater removal and freshwater refills regularly. Maintain unit equipment functionality and operation. Ensure fleet compliance: Adhere to Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and manage time effectively. Demonstrate understanding of driver responsibilities and DOT compliance. Facilitate storage of MRUs during periods of inactivity or as directed by the supervisor. Support clinical operations procedures on the MRU. Clinical Research Trial preparation Assist with the screening, recruiting, and/or perform telephone or in-person interviews to gather data, as needed. Confirm participant appointments. Prepare lab kits. Assist with specimen collection, processing and shipment. Clean exam rooms. Assist with obtaining vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG’s, height and weight assessments. Review and comprehend study related documents, assist with data collection and entry. Work closely with the clinicians on the MRU as well as the rest of the clinical research team. Assist with setup and breakdown of community booths at events and engagements. Manage site inventory of consumables and kits on a weekly basis, replenishing as needed (via supplier and internal supply). Coordinate site vendors, including location setup. Interact with patients/participants, manage check-ins/outs, participant stipends and assist with scheduling. Maintain open communication with Mobile Research Unit field staff, Clinical Operations Leadership and Fleet Supervisor. Prepare, process, and submit monthly expense reconciliations and reports. Embrace change and additional tasks as needed for the benefit of the team. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Competencies: Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint). Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair. Strong organizational skills, time management skills with effective task prioritization. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interactions with internal stakeholders and outside vendors. Enthusiasm for customer service and a customer-centric approach. Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure. Goal-oriented mindset with consistent performance and deadline adherence. Adaptability and willingness to contribute to team efforts. Experience with lab sampling, process, storage, and shipping procedures Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, and squat Occasionally sit, reach above shoulders, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone, and handwrite. Ability to lift at minimum of 50lbs. General knowledge of medical terminology SKILLS AND ABILITIES Education: Associate or bachelor's degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of medium/heavy vehicle or Emergency Vehicle driving experience. Minimum of 1 year experience in a clinical role, such as EMT, healthcare assistant, nursing assistant or Medical Assistant with phlebotomy experience. Certificates & Licenses: Must have and maintain a valid driver's license in accordance with EmVenio Drivers Policy. EMT Certification, Medical Assistant Certification, and/or Phlebotomy certification (preferred) Commercial Driver Training / Smith System or Pace Training (preferred) CDL A or B (preferred) Other Requirements: BLS (Basic Life Support) Certified (preferred) ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certification (preferred) GCP Certification (preferred) IATA Certification (preferred) Familiarity with Fleet Telematics systems (preferred) Ability to successfully pass a background, drug screening and obtain DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate as required by USDOT regulations. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed primarily in vehicles, and outdoor settings, in all weather conditions, including temperature extremes, during day and night shifts. Work is often performed in emergency and stressful situations. Mobile Research Unit is set up in a medical office and exam room environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in an office setting and could be heavy in other situations.The preceding functions may not be comprehensive in scope regarding work performed by an employee assigned to this position classification.
