Job Details Job Location : Flower Mound - Flower Mound, TX Salary Range : $175,000.00 - $200,000.00 Salary Description Position Summary The Director, Innovation is the subject matter expert for distribution center design, including automated and semi-automated material handling and distribution processes. The Director will lead and direct improvement and capacity enhancement initiatives, and through influence and involvement will lead operational teams through physical and system changes associated with initiatives. The SVP, Distribution and Logistics will provide direction and will rely heavily on the Director to evaluate physical processes, automated handling systems, WMS and production data to determine opportunities for improvement and to design and implement more efficient solutions and processes. Essential Functions and Duties Develops and oversees the management of process optimization, standardization and continuous improvement including: Directs and coordinates subordinates to actively monitor operational data and processes to maintain continuous improvement practices throughout distribution operations. Oversees and directs collaboration with subordinates, clients and internal resources to define problems / opportunities and perform associated information gathering, data mining and analytics. Directly or through subordinates, presents improvement alternatives to stakeholders and either creates or sources input, testing data and financial analysis to verify improvement approach. Plans approach and project resources to design, develop and implement initiative and aligns resources, materials and preparation accordingly. Manages external resources required to complete initiatives and collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure that operations are continuous and uninterrupted throughout implementation. Manages project management resources and activities including preparing, maintaining and proactively managing the project communication plan to the stakeholders and tracking project communication materials. Leads, while collaborating with the DC leadership team, on distribution center design, material handling systems and automation, storage strategies, inventory slotting and replenishment strategy, pick strategies and the utilization of labor management solutions. Oversees the development of performance standards and distribution capacity metrics, utilizing labor management solutions. Operates office equipment: computer, scanner, printer, copier, fax, 10 Key, calculator, and phone. Adheres specifically to all company policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations, and laws. Display dedication to position responsibilities and achieve assigned goals and objectives. Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required Education: A Bachelor's degree in engineering or supply chain field; or four (4) years of relevant experience in lieu of degree. Required Experience: Minimum ten (10) years [fourteen (14) for non-degreed candidates] of experience in an engineering role. Hands on experience in either a distribution, manufacturing or high-volume pharmacy operation with automated handling systems and associated control systems. Preferred Experience: Minimum seven (7) years of progressive experience in distribution or manufacturing engineering. Experience designing and implementing warehouse processes supported by an advanced WMS. Experience using Lean and/or Six-Sigma. Required Skills: Must have strong computer skills and experience with following software: AutoCad MS Office Access or SQL Must have strong organizational skills. Must have a detail orientation and the proven ability to prioritize work. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team. Sound decision-making abilities. Physical requirements Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must have the ability to view a computer screen for prolonged periods and the ability to sit for extended periods. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. The employee occasionally lifts to 20 lbs. and occasionally kneels and bends. Must have the ability to travel occasionally. Working condition include normal office setting. Mental Demands Learning, thinking, concentration and the ability to work under pressure, particularly during busy times. Must be able to pay close attention to detail and be able to work as a member of a team to ensure excellent customer service. Must have the ability to interact effectively with co-workers and customers, and exercise self-control and diplomacy in customer and employee relations' situations. Must have the ability to exercise discretion as well as appropriate judgments when necessary. Must be proactive in finding solutions.
