The City of Clayton Public Works Department is seeking applicants for the Municipal Service Worker I position. The Municipal Service Worker I position assists with maintenance and construction of all public streets, parkways, islands and other rights-of-way; plants new trees and landscaping; removes dead and diseased trees; installs new street lights; removes snow and ice from City streets and municipal parking lots during the winter season; removes leaves from streets during the fall season; installs traffic control devices and traffic regulatory signs; stripes traffic lane lines and parking spaces and public parking lots; maintains public parking lots; and performs other duties as assigned. " The Public Works Department is divided into four divisions - Engineering and Administration, Operations, Facilities Maintenance, and Fleet Services. The Operations Division, in which this position is based, is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all public streets, alleys, sidewalks, parking facilities, street lights, traffic control, forestry, public landscaping, snow/ice removal and the leaf collection program. Comprised of approximately 185 full-time and over 200 part-time and seasonal employees, the average full-time employee tenure is over ten years! Employee Compensation & Benefits: Competitive starting salary range: $47,632.00. The full range for the position is currently $47,632.00 - $60,7777.60. Required Qualifications of the Municipal Service Worker I Position: High School education or equivalent One (1) year previous work experience in general infrastructure maintenance or hand tools preferred Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain such within six (6) months of hire. Successful candidates for the position will be required to successfully complete additional screening including, but not limited to the following: Background investigation, driver license check, DOT driving records check, employment and reference checks, pre-employment physical and drug screening.
