This position will be responsible for providing technical support for SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and Load Management systems to monitor performance, reporting data and maintaining functions to ensure system quality and reliability. This position will also perform load management by predicting peak loads and responding to economic and system events. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES will include, but are not limited to, the following: Collects, tracks & monitors weather and the PJM and Dominion Energy load and energy pricing on a daily basis to make critical decisions regarding load control. Collects and prepares data for load control reporting, summary, and planning purposes. Collects and prepares data to verify the monthly power bill. Tracks, collects, and prepares data on load transfers and source outages for reporting to the VA State Corporation Commission and Dominion Energy. Monitors, programs, maintains, and operates SCADA and Load Management systems equipment to ensure system operation, security and reliability. Monitors and evaluates SCADA alarms at all substations to recognize potential and/or immediate problems. Locates and notifies appropriate personnel (Technical Services and Operations) and the Substations and Telecommunications Manager to take appropriate action. Accurately programs the SCADA system for changes and additions to substations and thoroughly tests these changes via SCADA with Technical Services personnel. Programs, operates and monitors the load management switches and voltage reduction. Works continually towards self-development to stay current on SCADA, load management, computer and system operations procedures and practices. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Technology or a related field is required or equivalent combination of education and experience. One to three years of related experience directly related to technical support in an engineering, telecommunications or utility environment using and maintaining specialized computer systems is required. Previous experience with SCADA and Load Management systems and computer programming methodologies is preferred. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team. Demonstrated knowledge of all company policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and mathematical skills. Demonstrated proficiency with general computer operation and Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with all levels within the organization. Demonstrated ability to anticipate and meet rapidly changing customer and business needs by quickly refocusing and realigning strategic and operational direction. Demonstrated ability to apply intuition, knowledge and decision making skills to collect, analyze and interpret weather patterns and changes in the entire PJM and Dominion Energy territory to anticipate load profiles and make decisions regarding load control. Demonstrated ability to accurately, timely and efficiently input data into specialized SCADA and Load Management software systems. Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze and interpret load transfers, source outages, and the affect they have on maximum currents and load profiles. Knowledge and understanding of substations and circuits and their relationships. Demonstrated ability to interpret SCADA alarms and take appropriate action when problems occur.
