To quote myriad TNC staff members, "you'll join for our mission, and you'll stay for our people."WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHERThe Watershed Conservation Coordinator develops, manages, and advances conservation programs, plans, and methods for the Puerto Rico Program of The Nature Conservancy Caribbean Division. The Watershed Conservation Coordinator provides technical leadership and support to the Puerto Rico Program, focusing on watershed conservation and management programs and stewardship. The Coordinator addresses critical threats to watershed systems and individual species, fosters cross-site learning among the conservation community, and supplies conservation planning teams with site or landscape level information relevant to the planning process. In close coordination with the Puerto Rico Program Manager, they develop and implement conservation strategies and tools to promote TNC's conservation goals that include healthy fresh waterbodies that are important for biodiversity and carbon sequestration. The Coordinator works in multiple projects and is a point of contact with communities for their support and engagement. The Coordinator: Coordinates project activities and stakeholder engagement, tracking progress and strategizing solutions to address challenges. Builds relationships and fosters cooperation with internal and external partners and stakeholders. Performs tasks with minimal supervision and makes independent decisions based on analysis, experience, and context. May supervise technical consultants. May manage staff and/or volunteers, with responsibility for performance management, training, and development. Ensures program compliance with internal policies and external requirements. Performs fieldwork in varied locations across Puerto Rico, including field monitoring, surveys, and assessments. Present the project to different stakeholders, including in outreach and education activities. May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances. Develop work plans and implementation program for watershed action plan in coordination with partners. Come join TNC and apply today!WHAT YOU'LL BRING Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years' experience in natural resource management, hydrology, or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience managing staff or volunteers. Relationship building experience to work closely with a variety of partners, i.e., landowners/managers, media, government officials, scientists. Experience with the cultural context, as well as relevant environmental partners and agencies in Puerto Rico. Experience with watershed conservation initiatives. Experience collecting field data. Organizational skills and project management experience. Experience completing tasks independently with respect to timeline(s). Advanced verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English. Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, web browsers, etc. Experience collecting and downloading data with GPS. Experience in training others.
